Arsenal Dump Mahez for Thomas Lemar

Arsenal signed Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette in a £52m club-record deal as Arsene Wenger significantly bolstered his attacking options ahead of next season.
Now, the Gunners boss is mooted to have turned to AS Monaco’s Lemar in order to improve the supporting act behind Lacazette ahead of the 2017-18 Premier League campaign.
According to reports in the British media earlier this month, Arsenal have already had a £30m bid rejected by the Ligue 1 champions but the Gunners are expected to return with an improved offer.
Leicester City midfielder Riyad Mahrez has also been linked with a potential move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer transfer window.
However, Daily Mirror reporter Cross has revealed that Lemar is the north London side’s first-choice option and Mahrez is merely a back-up.
Cross wrote on Twitter:
“Thomas Lemar is Arsenal’s first choice next signing. Mahrez is flattering himself if he thinks he’s anything other than back up option.”
