Manchester United confirms Romelu Lukaku Number

Manchester United confirm new shirt numbers for Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku

Manchester United have revealed that Victor Lindelof will wear the No.2 shirt for the upcoming season and have confirmed that Romelu Lukaku has been given the No.9.
Lindelof was Jose Mourinho’s first summer signing in a £30million deal from Benfica in June, while Lukaku officially completed his £75m move from Everton to Old Trafford on Monday.

Lindelof’s No.2 shirt has been vacant since Rafael joined Lyon two years ago, while Lukaku has inherited the No.9 from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is a free agent while he recovers from his cruciate ligament injury.
‘I always asked my mother what number, and I used to play with the 10 because my mother’s birthday is on the 10th of October, so it’s the 10th month of the year. That’s why I played with No. 10,’ Lukaku said in an interview with ESPN.

‘I asked for the No 9 because I’m a striker. Strikers play with No 9.
‘It’s a nice number, and I asked the permission of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
