As Chelsea head off on tour to the Far East on Monday, both Diego Costa and Nemanja Matic have been given leave of absence by the club and won`t be going. With the Spanish/Brazilian and Serbian looking for the Chelsea exit, they are being left at home to try and find a way to negotiate a deal that will see them leave.
The Guardian carry a story claiming Juventus and Intenazionale are interested in signing Matic. The publication makes Juve favourites to land the deal. The 28 year old had hoped to link up with old boss Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, but Chelsea are understandably reluctant to do any business with the Manchester club following on from the Romelu Lukaku saga.
On the Diego Costa front, there appears to be no more news other than to repeat his desire to return to Spain with Atletico Madrid.
It`s hoped that the combined total income for both players would be in the region of £80million. With Tiemoue Bakayoko looking like a done deal following his arrival at Cobham for a medical, Chelsea will have pretty much spent what they have earned from transfers this summer. This would leave the £80million to pocket a couple of new attackers for the upcoming season.
Suddenly the doom and gloom surrounding Chelsea`s lack of transfer activity is surely beginning to lift.
