Qatar World Cup ambassador
Neymar is going to make a lot of money over the coming weeks. Already extremely wealthy, Mundo Deportivoreports that the Brazilian footballer is set to sign a €300m contract with Qatar Sports Investment in Doha.
He’ll be getting paid €60m a year to promote the 2022 World Cup, a tournament that was secured illegally by Qatar. The Gulf country have also been criticised for essentially enslaving stadium workers by confiscating passports.
Thousands of people have died to help Qatar prepare for this World Cup. But €300m is a tempting offer.
Of course, it’s no coincidence that Qatar Sports Investment also own PSG. Signing this contract will allow Neymar to buy himself out of his contract with Barcelona. It could be a clever way for PSG to get around FFP rules.
