Manchester United could beat Chelsea to Tiemoue Bakayoko transfer

The Red Devils are keen to sign a new defensive midfield player this summer but have so far struggled to land Jose Mourinho’s preferred targets in that area.
Various reports have linked United with a move for Tottenham’s Eric Dier, though he may be out of their price range due to Spurs’ reluctance to sell a star player to a major title rival.
Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic has also been high on Mourinho’s list of priorities, but the Blues look increasingly unlikely to sell the Serbian after the fall-out of missing out on Romelu Lukaku to United.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s own move for Bakayoko, which had looked on the brink of completion earlier this week after lengthy negotiations and rumours of an upcoming medical, has apparently stalled.
If the Premier League champions cannot get a deal for the France international back on track, United are ready to swoop in and sign him instead.
Bakayoko shone with Monaco last season and looks ready-made for the Premier League, with Mourinho seemingly ready to get one over his old club once again in dramatic fashion.
