Breaking : Diego Costa Listed in Chelsea’s 25 man Premier League squad

Diego Costa named in Chelsea’s 25 man Premier League squad

In a dramatic turn of events, troublesome striker Diego Costa has been named in Chelsea’s 25 man Premier League squad, after a move to Atletico Madrid fell through.

Major summer fallout
All summer long the Spanish striker has been linked with a return move to Atletico Madrid.

However, Diego Costa will seemingly remain with the Blues after being named in their Premier League squad.

It is understood that Costa fell out with manager Antonio Conte over the summer.

Currently, Costa is staying in his hometown of Lagarto in Brazil, refusing to return to Chelsea.

Failed Atleti negotiations
With the Spanish transfer window closing today, Atletico Madrid have simply run out of time to sign the forward.

They were believed to be continuing to negotiate with Chelsea on Thursday.

However, the deal has somewhat fallen apart, according to Spanish sources.

The key thing here is that there remains a chance of the move happening…

The deal is ‘unlikely’ as Atletico are in no rush, with the club currently under a transfer embargo until January, with Costa being uneligible to play until at least 2018.

This means that Atletico are currently relaxed about the move.

Costa will now be left feeling a bit like this after Deadline Day…

The striker had appeared set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer with a return to his boyhood club, Atletico Madrid, touted.

But a switch was not completed and he appears set for at least another four months in London.

Antonio Conte has named Costa in the squad for the season, but it remains to be seen whether he will pull on the blue shirt again.

Chelsea failed to complete transfers for Fernando Llorente and Ross Barkley on Deadline Day, leaving Conte short of options.

The row between Costa and Conte has become public since they fell out at the start of the summer.

Spain international Costa has been based in his homeland of Brazil and made no secret about his desire to join Atletico, even though he would not be able to be registered there until January.
